    • Abstract:
The article focuses on contemporary African dance artist Souleymane Badolo and his performance in New York City. His solo performance, titled "Yaado," at the La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theater, represented his own life journey and his being a living testimony of the Gurunsi rituals, dance and narratives. Observation shows the visibility of the traditional West African dance component of his choreography in his movement and in his words. It is viewed that Souleymane's sense of cultural endangerment is operated by few American and European artists.
