    • Abstract:
In this article the author compares the perceived heroic acts of Pope Pius XI and Pope Pius XII during their periods of power in the Catholic Church. He argues that the actions of Pope Pius XI in regards to Nazi anti-Semitism in Europe were courageous and criticizes Pope Pius XII for his handling of diplomatic relations with the fascist dictator Adolf Hitler. Other topics include Pius XII's failure to address the Holocaust, a brief history of each man's reign, and speculation about the possibility of sainthood for each man.
