      The article discusses how Ontario Power Generation (OPG) implemented benchmarks in gap-based planning to establish the basis for the company's 2010-2014 Nuclear Business Plan. Steps in gap-based planning include benchmark performance, setting strategic direction, developing business and supporting plans, executing improvements, reporting progress and managing delivery. The article also enumerates the key changes at OPG including a directed top-down planning process, development of fleet-wide improvement initiatives and closure of performance gaps.
