    • Abstract:
This essay assesses evidence concerning the Tabalian king Wasusarma or Uassurme and his father Tuwati in light of their appearance in Neo-Assyrian and Urartian annals. The invasion of Tabal, Anatolia by King Shalmaneser III from Malatya, Turkey marked the first encounter of archaeologists with the Tabalian dynasty in 836 before Christ (BC). It mentions evidence showing that the king was deposed by the Assyrians for defaulting on his tribute between 732 and 729 BC. Payment of tribute has reportedly shown the ties of loyalty of the king to the Neo-Assyrian empire. The link between the conquest of Parzuta by Wasusarma and his replacement by the Assyrians is also explored.
