The article examines international efforts to reduce poverty, focusing on the Millennium Development Goals (MDG), a United Nations set of standards for poverty reduction and economic development to be achieved by 2015. Significant progress has been made towards reducing poverty and meeting MDG standards in developing countries, notably in China and Africa. It is noted that policy science experiments by governments and nongovernmental organizations have created successful antipoverty programs.
