      The article discusses the history of the region of the former mining settlement known as California City, California along Bluff Creek, California from 1850 to the early 1960s. The role that gold mining, including the California Gold Rush of 1848-1852, played in the settling of California City is discussed. The bridges constructed crossing Bluff Creek, including the construction costs and their maintenance and repair, are also discussed. An overview of hydraulic mining near the Klamath River, California is provided.
