    • Abstract:
Hung Hsin, known as Joe, 29, who jokes that he was probably desensitized to the sight of blood by watching horror movies as a teenager, has been a nurse since 2006 with the Visiting Nurse Service of New York. It was his mother, Cindy Hsin, also a visiting nurse, who convinced him that he had inherited healing genes. Mr. Hsin lives in Flushing, Queens, is working on a bachelor's degree in nursing at Hunter College and is engaged to be married on Oct. 24 to -- what else? -- a nursing student, Michelle Hwang. Two first names: The name Joe was given to me unofficially by my mother when I was 4 or 5. Hung was my father's middle name; he died when I was 2. I used to love watching that show ''G. I. Joe'' on TV, so that's probably where the Joe came from. Everybody calls me Joe, except for my manager at work. Joe is an easy name for patients to remember. Except with my Asian patients, I use Hung. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
