      The article discusses neglected medical conditions of inmates in the U.S. Examples of medical negligence in prisons are presented including an elderly inmate in Alabama who suffered from stroke, the unattended prisoner from Illinois with a policeman's bullet in his buttock, and a man from Boston charged of automobile accident who was suffering from back pain. It reports that U.S. jails are only capable of first aids with a census of one of six jails have no medical facilities. It features the limited medical personnels in several prisons including Alabama's correctional system, Chicago's Cermak Memorial, and Fort Leavenworth, Kansas federal prison.
