The article discusses environmentalism across the world with specific reference to that in the U.S. It discusses the November 1970 elections in the U.S. in which voters discarded six of the twelve Congressmen with the worst environmental records, and approved dollars 1 billion in bond issues for pollution controls. It is reported that many foreign countries has taken several steps to prevent environmental degradation. Russia, Sweden and New Zealand have banned insecticide DDT. Last year, groups like the Environmental Defense Fund pressed suits against governmental agencies and private industries in the U.S. for causing environmental pollution.
