- Abstract:
The article discusses the practice of preventative hoof trimming for cows. In a study conducted by Veehof Dairy Services to investigate the effect of hoof trimming on reducing clinical lameness, researchers checked the hind feet of 3,000 Canterbury dairy cows. They endorsed the Dutch method of hoof trimming as effective for New Zealand cows for its benefit of more even weight distribution.
