- Abstract:
  The article features several notable people involved in the 1991 Gulf War. U.S. Joint Chiefs Chairman Admiral Mike Mullen served as captain of Desert Storm but was not in the combat zone. Former U.S. President George H. W. Bush played an important role in the establishment of a 34-nation coalition to defeat Iraq. Former Joint Chiefs of Staff General Colin Powell originally preferred containment instead of forcibly ousting Iraqi President Saddam Hussein from power.
