    • Abstract:
The article discusses a report in a 2010 issue of the "Journal of Archaeological Science" regarding the discovery of copper at an ancient settlement in Serbia. The researchers suggest that, based on the findings, copper smelting may have been invented in separate parts of Asia and Europe rather than emanating from one source. According to researchers at the University of College London, the discovery extends the record of known copper smelting activities an additional 500 years.
