The article features several new authors and their debut novels. Rebecca Connell says the challenge in her novel "The Art of Losing," was to make the major characters compelling and believable. Joan Frances Turner's book "Dust," deals with a teenage girl who died and reborn as a zombie. Tristan Garcia, author of "Hate," says his toughest challenge was making a monkey talk because her second book is narrated by a chimpanzee.
