    • Abstract:
The article presents information on jellyfish, focusing on reports of their global rise in numbers during the early 21st century. Incidents are reported of swarming jellyfish causing problems around the world. Some of the various types of jellyfish are described, and their status as one of the earliest forms of life on earth is noted. Pollution and overfishing are said to have created more room for jellyfish to breed, as they can flourish in water hostile to other forms of marine life. Several scientists who study jellyfish are quoted commenting on the creatures.
