[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
- Abstract: The young students' thinking about the nature of science and technology and its relationships with society is studied across a representative sample encompassing scientific and humanities specialties. The participants completed 15 questions of the Questionnaire of Opinions on Science, Technology and Society whose answers are analyzed by means of the multiple answer model, which generates the attitudinal indexes, the baseline for the quantitative and qualitative analysis. The global results show neutral attitudes, and the detailed analysis across questions, categories and sentences identifies the students' positive and negative beliefs. The implications of these results for the teaching and learning of the nature of the science and technology issues are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
