The article focuses on the increase in tuition fees and the decrease in educational budget of public universities due to the economic recession. According to the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU), almost three-quarters of state-funded universities suffer from the recession through the cuts in state funds and financial resources. It mentions that in response to the effects of the recession, Great Britain offered special funds that will promote subjects on science, technology, and mathematics. Moreover, it adds that tuition fees at public universities in the U.S. had increased by almost 5% above inflation since 1999 based on the College Board of the University of Michigan.
