      In this editorial the author discusses global banking reform in light of the debt crisis in southern Europe and fear that it could destroy a major bank. A piece of banking legislation proposed in the United States, under which the Federal Reserve would have greater regulatory powers, is discussed. Regulation as enacted by officials in Basel, Switzerland, acting for global banks, is examined.
