      The article analyzes Russian language discourse about fashion in everyday dress for insight into relative notions of "taste" (or relatively speaking: "tastes") and aesthetics. The author linguistically extracts conclusions about ideas on individuality and pluralism embedded in fashion conversations recorded in the Russian cities of Moscow and Ekaterinburg. The notion of taste is said to be a "micro-mechanism" of power involving sanctions against perceived violations of norms of good taste in everyday life.
