- Abstract:
The article features the resort community of Palmas del Mar (PDM) in Puerto Rico. It focuses on how composting saves them about 60,000 U.S. dollars annually in disposal costs. It explores how PDM Utilities handles greenwaste, sewage and potable water distribution for the community. It notes that the community operates as a stand-alone entity, providing residents with its own system, bank, retail shopping, and golf courses, however buys electricity and water from the neighboring town of Humacao.
