      In the second half of the 19th century surgical wards of many hospitals in Warsaw played an important, professional and scientific, role in otorhinolaryngology. The professional activity and didactic significance of Marian Borsuk (1860-1923), the well-known Varsovian surgeon, in many of those surgical wards are presented. Borsuk's successful surgical treatment of rhinolaryngological diseases (such as plastic operation of nose, uranoplastics, the removal of foreign bodies from oesophagus and submandibular salivary gland) are described in more details.       W drugiej połowie XIX wieku oddziały chirurgiczne wielu warszawskich szpitali odgrywały ważną rolę zawodową i naukową w rozwoju otorynolaryngologii. Przedstawiono działalność zawodową i znaczenie dydaktyczne dokonan Mariana Borsuka (1860-1923), znanego chirurga w wielu warszawskich szpitalach.
