      The article discusses the Parents League of New York and an event that it held called "Parenting the College Applicant" to help parents whose children are in the process of applying to colleges. It is suggested that parents adopt "flexible thinking" and have realistic goals or expectations for their children and that children are taught to be confident self-starters. The author Karen Stabiner was part of the workshop.
