      The article reports on the referendum concerning the ban of the construction of minarets in Switzerland. It notes that 60 percent of the population voted in favor of the ban even though the country has only three minarets. The referendum was criticized by the Vatican as an attack to the freedom of religion. In addition, the referendum shows the crumbling of European values which are to tolerate and respect differences, and to promote world peace.
