Whither Family Planning.

The author comments on the article by Nancy Aries regarding the emergence of the federal family planning program in the U.S. 1960 and 1980. He provides an overview of the analysis which indicated that the federal strategy of responding to a range of interests involving various institutions has led to the funding of such program with a categorical grant. He suggests that the solutions concerning the issue lie outside the health system like larger job opportunities and improved education.
