What is solidaristic about global solidarity?

The article explores two strategies for developing the conception of global solidarity. The author notes that the strategy focuses on sentiment, while the other on justice, but they both share the concept of cosmopolitanism. The problems of motivating cosmopolitanism from the perspective of cosmopolitan philosophers are outlined and the four standard features of domestic solidarity are identified. It is concluded that there is uncertainty on whether the concept of solidarity can be translated to the global environment.
