The article focuses on the report entitled "Marine Spatial Planning in US Waters: An Assessment and Analysis of Existing Legal Mechanisms, Anticipated Barriers, and Future Opportunities" issued by Environmental Law Institute (ELI) and the Ocean Conservancy in the U.S. It examines how the report reviews the federal ocean and coastal laws as well as its hindrances and opportunities presented in the country. The report was intended to assist decision makers for the implementation of the policies.
