The article presents basic facts about Iraq. Iraq's total population based on the 2006 mid-year estimate of the International Monetary Fund was 28.5 million. Its main provinces are Baghdad, Basra and Nineveh. Among the languages used in the country are Arabic, Kurdish and Aramaic. Its currency is the New Iraqi dinar. Public holidays celebrated in the country include National Day, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.
