      The article discusses a report published in the January 22, 2010 issue of "Science" regarding a model based on the rules of yellow slime mold, Physarum polycephalum, behavior that may lead to the design of more efficient and adaptable networks. Topics include how the researchers created a biology-inspired mathematical description of the network formation in a slime mold and the similarity between a rail network in Tokyo, Japan and one created by a P. polycephalum.
