- Abstract:
In the present study, we study the use of porous silicon (por-Si) surfaces with silver nanoparticles deposited by immersion plating as substrates for surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). We analyze the influence of the por-Si etching parameters - etchant composition, on its SERS properties after silver deposition. We demonstrate that films of close-packed silver nanocrystals aggregate on por- Si surface prepared at high HF content in the etchant (exceeding 25 %). Through experiments conducted, we show that the film of silver nanocryctals creates strong analyte's Raman signal enhancement due to the high surface density of the crystallites and multiple edges on their surface, and serves as an extremely effective SERS substrate.
