Food Industry and Exports of Food Industry Products.

Food industry is one of the most important sectors in Latvian economy. Its orientation to exports may provide a considerable contribution to the increase of production potential and balanced territorial development. The paper analyses the role of Latvian food industry, the possible impact of transition period and globalisation on it, and tries to give some forecasts for its further development. Especially, the paper underlines the necessity to pay more attention to accelerate development of food industry in Latvian regions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
