- Abstract:
The article analyzes the need to collect and preserve animal specimens. Evolutionary biologists are concerned that over-collecting species may disturb the ecosystem. Guin Wogan of the University of California, Berkeley noted that the collections are important in the understanding the biology of the species. Also mentioned is the research activity of the California Academy of Sciences (CAS) in San Francisco, California, the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C., and Burma's forestry department about snakes.
