- Abstract: The article discusses the invention of Hewlett-Packard Co. (HP) to an ultra-sensitive accelerometer which prompted company to position in sensor networks. HP's microelectromechanical system (MEMS)-based motion sensor claimed more sensitive than the devices used in today's game controllers and airbags, at similar size, power and cost. It notes that the sensor could be useful in oil and gas mining and in monitoring traffic, cargo shipment, and used for detecting the acceleration of an airplane.
