The article focuses on the Innocence Project, which works for the release of improperly imprisoned inmates in the U.S. using DNA testing and informs about few of the wrongly convicted men. It is stated that Frank Lee Smith was convicted of rape and murder in Florida in 1986, based largely on shaky eyewitness testimony. In 2000, DNA testing proved Smith's innocence. Similarly, Earl Washington was arrested for burglary and assault and was hanged. However, DNA testing proved his innocence.
