- Abstract:
This article demonstrates the presence of Francis Jammes in the Italian periodical press soon after he gained Parisian recognition and several years before his poetry of humble life helped inspire Guido Gozzano and other crepuscolari in their attempt to escape the influence of Gabriele D'Annunzio. It analyses his contributions to Anthologie-Revue de France et d'Italie (Milan), republishing one uncollected poem; it explores the underlying connections and the reasons for the editors' admiration; and it postulates possible routes for the subsequent transmission of knowledge of Jammes in Italy, detailing the coverage of his writing in one later magazine, F. T. Marinetti's Poesia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
