    • Abstract:
The article presents a discussion of U.S. President Barack Obama from the standpoint of his impact on visual culture. It focuses on the ways in which the media coverage of Obama is similar to media coverage of previous American presidents, such as Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush. Topics related to the history of the political right and left in America are mentioned in this context. Some of the ways in which political leaders are visually represented in American popular culture are analyzed. It is argued that mass media images are often overvalued in comparison to grassroots activism.
