- Abstract:
The article discusses Porsche's use of an automatic transmission. It states that a traditional Porsche uses manual transmission, but launched its new dual transmission, called a Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) in October 2008 and over 2,000 models in the U.S. use this engine already. Cited advantages of the engine include being lighter, allowing faster, smoother automatic gear shifts and being more fuel efficient. The author feels, however, that the transmission is balky and hesitant at standstill.
