    • Abstract:
An encyclopedia entry for "Lightning" is presented. Lightning results from ice in storm clouds. A common form of lightning has a negatively charged area in a storm that sends charges downward, creating a channel and an electrical transfer, that is seen as lighting. Lightning can travel miles and its charge transfers can generate a large amount of heat.
