    • Abstract:
      The article focuses on a research conducted by the University of California, Los Angeles Institute of Industrial Relations. Institute staff members continue research in the following areas: labor law and legislation, comparative labor law, labor-management relations, public-sector labor relations, labor history, labor economics, human relations and sensitivity training, employment and poverty problems of minorities, and cross-cultural and comparative studies in industrial relations. The Management Programs section of the Institute, in addition to continuing its programs in human relations and leadership training, has conducted a number of large-scale conferences dealing with the impact of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, collective bargaining in a controls climate, and collective negotiations in public education in California. Public Sector Management Programs has received a grant under the Intergovernmental Personnel Act of 1970 to conduct training programs in public sector labor relations.
