      The author reflects on the nerd in popular culture. He relates that he was considered a nerd while he was growing up because he collected comic books. The author believes that nerds are thought of as cool in popular culture. He offers examples of the impact of nerds in the Hollywood, California film industry, and in the television industry. He states that he always suspected as a child that nerds would find acceptability one day.
