The article presents an overview of the benefits and disadvantages that are associated with obtaining a bachelor of arts degree in the U.S. In the article the author is critical of social pressure which is placed on high school graduates to enroll in college. He suggests that people who graduate from college do so because they have higher cognitive abilities and that they would be successful in life even without a college degree.
