The article focuses on the activities of the District 21 chapter of the Florida Nurses Association (FNA) in Broward County. In May 2009, the association honored the eight nominees for the FNA Broward County 2009 Nurse of the Year award, which was won by Karen Mulvaney, a clinical nurse specialist at Coral Springs Medical Center. The association's community outreach, a joint venture with the Broward Coalition to End Homelessness, aims to reduce and alleviate homelessness through advocacy and public motivation of community action.
