This article reports on the acquisition by Lufthansa of a 75% stake in Austrian Airlines. The flight revenue of Australian Airlines dropped by 17% to 415.3 million euros during the first quarter of 2009. The Austrian government has agreed to take over half of the Austrian flag carrier's one billion euros of debt. June 17, 2009 is the deadline set by the European Commission in reviewing the Lufthansa-Austrian Airlines transaction.
