    • Abstract:
The article reports on a study conducted by Loran Nordgren and his colleagues at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois which showed that strong-willed persons are worse at resisting temptation. Smokers were recruited by the researchers as participants. They were promised to receive money if they are able to resist lighting up a cigarette while watching a clip of the film "Coffee and Cigarettes." Prior to the test, smokers were given false psychological tests telling some of them that they had a high capacity for impulse control.
