      The article presents a critique of the report "Rolling Out the Unwelcome Mat for Visitor Centers," by Martin Filler in the March 2009 issue of "Architectural Record." Filler discusses the Capitol Visitor Center, which is beneath the U.S. Capitol building, in Washington, D.C. The interpretive exhibits at the center and similar centers at other historic landmarks, including the Liberty Bell Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the Mount Vernon estate in Virginia are discussed.
