- Abstract:
  The article references studies on the management of pediatric ventilation. A meta-analysis of studies showed that most of the available data on noninvasive ventilation for acute hypoxic respiratory failure in children consists of case reports or small case series. Another study looked at risk factors for failure of noninvasive positive pressure ventilation in acute lung injury patients. According to Dr. Ira M. Cheifetz, the usefulness of protocols in helping clinicians minimize duration of ventilation depends on the strength of published evidence.
