- Abstract:
The article discusses the link between serotonin and depression. The discovery of a polymorphism that was related to serotonin was considered by scientists to be a good example of gene-environment interactions and a plausible link between depression and serotonin. Topics include an in-depth examination of the results from a meta-analysis published in "The Journal of the American Medical Association," by geneticists Kathleen Merikangas and Neil Risch, challenging serotonin's role in depression.
