    • Abstract:
The article reports on the 17-month long rehabilitation of the Ford's Theatre National Historic Site in Washington D.C. It notes that the historic preservation has involved the installation of structural supports for a modern stage rigging system for theatrical productions and the advanced mechanical systems in the theatre's attic. In addition, the project, that is worth $13.5 million, has featured the fortification of 517 Building and the floor elevation in the former Star Saloon. According to CH2M Hill Inc. construction manager Jonathan McGrew, the sense of history has caused the project to be gratifying although the historical importance of the theatre provided challenges to the participants. A diagram is presented depicting the longitudinal section of the theatre stage.
