Women immigrants and marginal work in Piedmont during the Economic boom. (English)
    • Abstract:
The article focuses on the study of female worker immigrants to Piedmont during the economic boom of the 1950s-1970s. It analyzes the effects of a lack of a grandmother figure as a means of taking care of children while mothers are away at work, as well as cultural hostilities in the region towards working women. The article then presents several brief biographies of mothers, mother-in-laws, and grandmothers which highlight the social and work atmospheres of the time. It ends with a discussion on migration as a factor on womens' conjugal roles, as well as their prospective geographic mobility.
