    • Abstract:
The article discusses medical economics. The use of so-called "comparative effectiveness" research on medical procedures and drugs to evaluate their cost-effectiveness is examined. Use of comparative effectiveness information in patient decision-making could result in significant savings. Institutional biases against the sharing of effectiveness research are described.
