- Abstract:
The article presents a research conducted by Stephen D. Miller, Xunrong Luo, and colleagues at Northwestern University which investigates ways that transplanted islets from donors cannot be rejected by recipients without using toxic immunosupression. Miller and colleagues used an antigen-specific treatment to induce tolerance in mice. Researchers found that the mice accepted the graft without therapeutic intervention once tolerance to the transplant was established.
