Title I--and Then Some.

The article discusses how schools are combining Title 1 funding with alternative sources of funding to finance the acquisition of educational technology. Title 1 funds are offered to schools with a high number of low-income students. The Alpine School District in Lindon, Utah used Title 1 funds to finance development of its wireless network while using its standard budget to acquire information technology (IT) equipment. The Umatilla-Morrow Education Service District in Pendleton, Oregon used its Title 1 funds and other sources of funding to purchase software for English language and literacy instruction. The Wayne County School District in West Virginia used Title I and Title V funding to finance a distance learning system.
